Durham Fairtrade City

In 2007 Durham was officially recognised by the Fairtrade Foundation as a Fairtrade City.  This means that the city and wider county have made fairtrade a vital part of their policy-making and outlook and that the ideals behind fair trade are actively pursued and practically supported wherever possible.  Fair Trade maintains a clear presence in the city and people have an increasing awareness of its value within trade and society.

A number of people and groups (including Gateway) were involved in achieving Fairtrade City Status, and the banner of Fair Trade has now been taken up by the Durham City Fair Trade Partnership, which meets regularly to ensure continued development of Fair Trade through education, promotion and special events.

This is the place to find out what's happening at Gateway and with the Fair Trade City initiative and also a chance to discuss any issues of interest.
